Be
familiar with the organisation at the International, National, State and
Local level

the Constitutions of each level and the aims and objectives of BPW
Become
familiar with standard meeting procedure and with our own special club
procedures e.g. electing and welcoming new members
Become
familiar with Club files and history
Become
familiar with the objectives of each committee, the duties of the office
bearers and committee chairpersons. Some committees may need special
attention
Have
a clear understanding with the Secretary and Treasurer as to what is to
be handled by each.
Work
on any special Club project for the year.
At
the end of the AGM, arrange hand-over/takeover night where files and
information are exchanged between outgoing and new committee members.
Telephone
the Division President and discuss your Clubs AGM and projects
Send
to Federation and Division details of Club Office bearers
Read
the Club Work Book.
At
mid year:
In
Jan/Feb survey progress of all committees' activities, they may need
encouragement to begin activities after the holiday break.
Critically
look at the progress of the Club in the last 6 months.
Critically
look at the programme for the next 6 months.
At
the end of the year:
Submit
a report at the AGM showing how the club has achieved its objectives.
Send a copy of report to the Division President.
With
the Treasurer prepare a draft budget for the incoming committee.
Ensure
a smooth handover between the old/new Office bearers.
Continuously
throughout the year:
Preside
at general and executive meetings and see that each meeting is carefully
planned beforehand with the Secretary and begins and ends on time.
Keep
close watch on committees to ensure they are functioning consistently
See
that written reports go to Federation and Division and make the
information available to the appropriate committees and Club members.
Try
to attend Regional or Divisional meetings
Try
to attend Federation and Division Conferences
Delegate
tasks to committees and members. The President is responsible for a
successful club but this does not mean doing everything yourself.
